I have known several people in my life that were retired and multi-millionaires when they were in their 20′s and 30′s. I have never been afraid to ask them how they were able to become so successful, if they were willing to tell me. I was always surprised at how much they were willing to tell me. These experiences have not always been cookie cutter examples where I could simply copy them and have their same success, but they have been very revealing!
I have always been interested in how some people in life seem to get lucky or figured out how to achieve financial success, while most of society just gets by. My findings told me that some people were simply at the right place at the right time and had the knowledge to act. They found themselves presented with an opportunity that made sense to them and they made the best of the opportunity through their actions and knowledge.
Other things I found were that some people have a great way of setting goals and then formulating a plan for achieving them. They know exactly what they want in the short and long term and put plans in place to go where they see themselves being. It is amazing how this works!

Hi Mark,
Brilliant post, I completely agree that we must all have a plan or we will get side tracked so many times we won’t get anywhere! We also must be very honest with ourselves about how much time we have to devote to our goal and how much we can achieve in that time. Yes, planning is so very important.

Anyway, goal setting and time management are areas I have definitely had problems and I am always trying to get better at them. I guess I am still a work in progress.
