This post has nothing to do with Internet Marketing at all. It has been a few weeks since my last post and this is because I have not been in the right frame of mind to write.
I have been spending all my free time taking care of a dear friend of mine at the end of his life. His name is Kramer
and he has been in my life for 13.7 years, ever since he was a puppy. He is a black and tan German (Sherman) Shepherd and has been a very loyal and loving friend and companion. I had to put him to sleep last Friday after it became clear that he was suffering and I couldn’t do more to help him live longer. When I say this; I would do anything within reason to keep him around! I love and miss him so much! I feel like a big part of me is missing, but I am thankful for all the time we had together.
The one absolutely unselfish friend that man can have in this selfish world, the one that never deserts him, the one that proves never to be ungrateful or treacherous, is his dog. A man’s dog stands by him in prosperity and poverty, in sickness and health. He will sleep on the cold ground where the wintry winds blow and snow drives fiercely, if only he may be by his master’s side. He will kiss the hand that has no food to offer, he will lick the wounds and sores that come in the encounter with the roughness of the world. He guards the sleep of his pauper master as if he were a prince. When all others fail and desert, he remains. When riches take wings and reputation falls to pieces, he is as constant in his love as the sun in it’s journey through the heaven’s.
UPDATE to: “Tribute to a Dog and my BEST FRIEND!”
Thank you to all that have contributed to this post honoring KRAMER, my friend! Today, he showed me that he is still in my life in some way! I had to laugh at the irony of “the brave cat” and “the well behaved German Shepherds”, as I found this picture while getting my boys their immunization shots for school…..

Hi Mark
I’m sorry to hear of your loss.
Words often feel empty at these times, but always cherish the memories and Kramer will forever be with you
Best Wishes
Steve
Hi Steve,
I really appreciate your kind words. We certainly had a lot of great times together and my life has been blessed with Kramer’s company. He will definitely be missed, but always remembered.
Thank you,
Mark
Hi Mark,
I too and sorry to hear of your loss.
Your post reminded me of my German Shepherd ‘Fella’
He too was a great friend and had such a fantastic nature… I hadn’t thought of him for a long time now as it’s been over 20 years since we parted….
But now you’ve brought back memories.
And like yourself – I’m thankful for the time we had together
Randy

Hi Randy,
Thank you for stopping by and leaving a comment and I appreciate your kind words. I am glad that you thought about your buddy “Fella” again, even though he has been gone for awhile. It seems like the years go by so fast. It’s good to look back in our lives and remember special moments and friends. I wish you all the best!
Take care,
Mark
Hi Mark, sorry for your loss.
I know exactly how you feel mate. I had a staff’ for 14 years and he was always there, right beside me. He’d sit by my side where ever i was and when i was in bed he’d lay under my wheelchair.
We tried to do our best for him and for the last year or so had him on pain killers to help him along. Unfortunaltely we had to put him down.
I used to come home and clap my hands and he’d come running. I sometimes come home now and go to clap, boy how i miss him.
Thinking of you mate, Barry
Hi Barry,
I sure enjoy hearing from other people who know the joys any pet can bring to your life. It doesn’t seem fair that their life is so short in comparison to ours. I can sure relate to your clap. Every time I would say to Kramer “do you want to go bye bye” his ears would perk up and he would get so excited to know we were going somewhere in our car or truck. It didn’t even matter where we were going as long as we went.
Thank you for your kind thoughts and keep clapping. Your buddy just might be there!
Regards,
Mark
Hi Mark, When I was a kid I had a Jack Russell.
After a while I discovered that everyday at the same time the dog would go and sit at the front gate. It took me a while to realize he was waiting for my father coming home from work.
He had decided that he was my father’s dog not mine.
He was perfectly friendly with me, but when my father appeared he was ecstatic. Little twerp.
There is so much more to dogs than a lot of people realize. You were very lucky to have your friend as long as you did.
Best wishes, Brian.
Hi Brian,
Thank you for your comment. I had to laugh about your story of your dog being more loyal to your father than you, even though you may have wished otherwise. I often heard comments from my wife and children about how they were simply tolerated by Kramer, but his true loyalty was with me. I secretly was very happy I had been chosen to have this loyalty, but in reality, he and I were buddies before I met my wife.
Kramer always seemed to know when I would be getting home from work and would be there waiting for me. If he was in the house, he would be waiting by the window so he could see when I drove in the drive way. I was always anxious to get home to my buddy! You are so right about me being lucky to have him for so long even though I wish it was more. Those memories are priceless!
Thank you very much!
Mark
Hi Mark
Sorry to hear about your trusted buddy
They always say mans best friend is his dog
We had (TIZZIE) an English Cocker Spaniel who was part of our lives for 4 years from a pup. A right lively handful.
Thankfully she has not passed on.
But it was one of the hardest decisions my wife and I have had to make in our lives.
Since we lost our house and had to move into a flat and with me working away from home and my wife working we found Tizzie a new loving home with my sons father-in-law.It was only fair to her.
She has acres of space and is very happy as she bosses around their German Shepherd.
I do still miss her and it`s a year on!!
All the Best
Mike
Hi Mike,
Thank you for dropping by to leave this comment. I am sorry to here that you had to give up your buddy TIZZIE, but it is great that she got a good home with a relative. So many pets in similar situations are put in animal shelters or worse. I know that doesn’t lesson the pain, but at least you can still visit her.
You take care and you will get another home someday soon and will be able to have a new friend to share your home. All the best!
Regards,
Mark
Hey Mark
I am sorry to hear of your loss. No doubt you can cherish all the wonderful memories that you had with Kramer. The story about mans best friend is a moving tribute to the un devoted love that dogs provide to their owners. We have a beautiful 3 year old golden retriever and I can certainly vouch for all the attributes that you mentioned in your post. There is no doubt us humans can learn a lot from the 4 leg variety. Thanks for sharing your story.
Hi Stan,
Thank you for your comment. There is no shortage of great memories. When Kramer was a puppy and I had just listed my house for sale, he ripped up the hot tub cover. I taped it up with duct tape and he ripped it up again. How can you get mad at a puppy, as I could only laugh? He also used to ride in the back of my truck, which was covered with a camper shell and had the window open so he could stick his head out. Every time a car passed he would jump up and do a 360 degree turn and make the whole truck rock back and forth. It was funny to watch!
Enjoy your Golden Retriever and all the precious memories, as this is one of many gifts in our life. Have a great day!
Mark
Hi Mark, I’m so sorry for your loss. I know exactly how you feel.
It’s just like when a person passes. Years ago when I was much younger I (my family) had a German Shepard Prince.
He will never be forgotten. I have a picture of him in my bedroom. As time goes by you will find the peace Kramer will give you in the way you are feeling right now. God bless Kramer and Prince.
Terry Conti
Hi Terry,
I really appreciate your post, and yes, I did lose a very dear family member. Everyone may not see it that way, but that’s OK with me. Anyone who has ever been through this knows how it feels and how precious the memories are.
Here’s a toast to Kramer and Prince! Thank you and keep up all your great posts!
Mark
Hi Mark,
I have never raised a dog before.
But years ago, I have an unique experience when my brother in law gave me 2 hamster to take care as he was enlisted into the Army. I called the female Little May and the male Rambo. Both of them passed away within 3 years or so. Life span of a Hamster is so short as compared to a dog. I cried when I buried them when they were gone. Before that, I never understood why anyone would be emotionally attached to their pets.
Now, I respect that Love they had in their heart.
Here’s a quote I share whenever someone I know lost something precious in their life:
“To live in hearts we leave behind is not to die.~Thomas Campbell, “Hallowed Ground”
Hope it can comfort you a little.
Cheers
Jason Ser
Hello Jason,
Your comment is great and shows that we all can find friendship and love with any pet and it doesn’t have to be a dog. I have had great pets throughout my life including dogs , cats, birds, goats, etc…
I have never had hamsters, but I know you became very attached to them. When you share your life with them, you grow attached to each other. When they are gone, you have a void in your life.
I really appreciate your quote and it is so true. There is comfort in this thought!
Thank you,
Mark
Hey Mark.
My heart goes out to you, I’m so sorry for your loss.
The ultimate best friend. But true love never dies and going by your post that was true love.
I lost my beautiful dog 3 years ago and just can’t bring myself to have another. She is irreplaceable.
Some days I just start thinking about her for no reason and I’m convinced that that’s because she’s close, she’s come for a visit.
I loved her to bits and always will.
Her name was “Socks”.
All the best to you Mark.
Gert
Hi Gert,
Kramer was definitely a true friend and one of the best I have ever had in my life! My love for him will always be there as your love will always be there for Socks.
I am also sorry to here about your loss of your beautiful girl Socks. I would bet there is a story behind that name. Please share, if you want to. When you think of her and can’t bring yourself to have another; it is because she was so special! I know what you mean, but I also know that there are many other potential friends out there that could only wish to have you in their life. Give it a try when you are ready, because life is short. Life is meant to share!
Thank you for all your kind words and I hope we both get visits from our buddies real soon!
Regards,
Mark
Hi Mark and sorry about Kramer
Very sad that he had to go to doggie heaven. I am sure that was the hardest thing you had ever done. God bless you!
I had a cock a poo when I was a kid for about 16 years. I didn’t know life without him. His name was …get this… real original name….Puppy. Just Puppy and when he was in trouble it was Puppy Dog!
I have 3 dogs now and they are the coolest. Cooper, Princess and Coco Puff.
I am sure your heart hurts to not have Kramer anymore. It makes me sad. Brings tears to my eyes.
Thank God for all the wonderful times you had with your beloved doggie. They are truly the best friend we could have.
Dogs always love you no matter what and they are not real picky eaters, either. Now THAT’S a friend!!
Lisa~
Hi Lisa,
Thank you for dropping by to leave a comment and helping me do a proper tribute to Kramer and all dogs. I have always been with all my pets when they were put to sleep and it has never been easy. I was very attached to Kramer and it was very hard and still doesn’t seem like he’s not here anymore.
Going forward, I want to dwell on the pleasant memories we had and not the sadness of him not being by my side. It makes me happy to here that you have 3 dogs and they have great names! Enjoy them as I have with Kramer and will do in the future with my next buddy or buddies.
You are so right about dogs not being picky eaters – now that’s a friend! I need to find a way to get my 9 year old son to quit being so picky. On second thought; I had better get a dog!
Thanks again and take care!
Mark
Hi Mark,
Gosh I do feel your pain. I have also had to put down dogs over the years. It is not an easy thing to do. Your post brought tears to my eyes. I remember my first dog when I was quite young. He was a cross poodle named PUFF ( named after Puff the Magic Dragon – song at the time). We got him as a puppy and he grew as we grew up. He had to be put down because he was blind and became incontinent at 13 yrs of age. He is still my favourite!
Cheers
Janice
Hi Janice,
It is always hard to lose a loved one. Kramer was a great friend and companion and will always hold a special place in my heart as Puff does for you. By the way, I do remember the song “Puff the Magic Dragon” growing up as a child. It’s a reminder of how fast time goes and why we need to enjoy it!
Enjoy the memories!
Regards,
Mark
Hi Mark,
I am very sorry to hear about Kramer. It is a lovely picture.
A mans best friend.
Pete
Hi Pete,
I appreciate you stopping by to leave a comment. Kramer was definitely a very photogenic dog and his personality was the same. He will always be a 10 in my book!
Thank you,
Mark
Hey Mark,
Kramer has given you so many good memories…sorry he has gone.
Bryan
Hi Bryan,
Thank you for dropping by to leave a comment and I appreciate your thoughts. Kramer has left me with so many fond memories and I am so fortunate to have had him in my life and I am glad I was in his! God blessed me with the gift of Kramer!
Mark
Hey Mark,
I feel your pain. This brought back memories of when I lost my first dog… *sniff*

Hi Mark, sorry about your loss, I know the little guys leave such as gap in your life when they go, they give you love so unconditionally.
best wishes
Rob
Hello Rob,
You are so right about the gap in life. It will be hard to fill! I appreciate you leaving a comment.
Thank you,
Mark
Hi Mark
I read this post the other day but I felt so sad I couldn’t write a comment. It is so hard to know what to say to someone when they have lost a loved one, whether it be human or animal. What a heart raking decision you had to make to stop his suffering even though it was going to cause you so much pain. Kramer will always be in your heart no matter what.
We will eventually have to go through the same thing as we have a dog getting on in years. When we bought Charlie (a golden retriever) as a pup, we also adopted a kitten a week later. Both freaked out the first time they saw each other but that soon changed. Before we got the ‘boys’ we had been trying for a baby for quite a few years. I don’t know what magic they created but three months later I was pregnant. Growing up as an only child can be difficult but our daughter has always had her best friends there for her even when her ‘real’ friends let her down. The dog has been ridden like a pony, worn silly hats and decorations. The cat has been dressed in dolls cloths and wheeled around in a dolls pram. Plus many other ‘things’ children do to pets.
The animals are 12 now and Charlie has arthritis in his back legs and doesn’t like to go for long, long walks anymore. The cat is a lot slower and doesn’t visit the neighbor’s as much as he used to. They have always slept together and when they have been sick and had to stay at the Vet’s they fret for each other – weird I know. What’s going to happen when they are not with us anymore, I don’t know. Just thinking about it brings me to tears, we as adults will cope but how will our child cope without her brothers and best friends, I just don’t know.
Good luck with the challenge and I hope your pain and emptiness soon eases.
Take care.
Robyn
Hi Robyn,
I am really glad you came back to leave a comment with all the emotions this post caused. I am doing better, even though I am still not used to Kramer being gone.
You definitely know the joys that pets can bring into your life. Many places, such as nursing homes, use pet therapy because they realize how powerful it can be to improve people’s lives. I had to laugh when you said:
I have had similar situations with our own children and they can sure make you laugh. I often wonder how our pets put up with some of the things they’re subjected to. It must be love!
I got to the point where I was carrying Kramer in and out of the house and would have to lift him into our car or truck to go somewhere. I loved helping him out even though I knew it was a sign things were coming to an end. It is definitely hard on all of us that know the special bonds that are formed from a life filled with special friends / pets.
Enjoy your buddies every day they are around. When they are gone you can only hold on to the special memories you shared. Be strong for your daughter, as I am sure it will be hardest on her. Let’s hope you don’t have to cross that bridge for many years!
Thank you again for your heart-felt comments and I wish you and your family all the best!
Take care,
Mark
Hi Mark,
I am really sorry that you lost Kramer. Dogs really are a mans best friend. You just have to remember the good times and keep those memories close to your heart.
Time is a great healer, but it did take a while before I got over losing our dog. So chin up. Don’t worry bout being away from the IM game as your family comes first.
Craig
Hello Craig,
I am glad you stopped by to leave a comment. It will take some time to get over Kramer, but I will always cherish the memories. I have been slacking on some things IM related, but it will still be there when I am ready to hit it hard again.
Thank you,
Mark
Hi Mark
My friend across the road recently lost their labrador and, watching them mourn, it made me realise that a dog is not just a dog, but a full member of the family.
Your tribute was beautiful, it made me stop and appreciate all the joy and beauty that dogs bring to our lives
live with the glow of the fun you had together
igor
Hi Igor,
Thank you for your nice comments. I have to thank my parents for giving me the gift of growing up with birds, cats and dogs. I know that not all people share this opinion, but it has made my life more fulfilled! We live in the country and 5 months ago we added 2 goats to the family, even though we never had any experience with them before. So far, they have been great to have around.
I will always remember my friend Kramer and all the great times we shared!
Regards,
Mark
Hi Mark,
I am so sorry to hear about your loss.
Since we brought home our dog 2 years ago, I am amazed to discover every day how much these 4-legged creatures bring into our life. My dog is so loyal to me, so loving and caring, and is much smarter an understanding than I ever expected from a dog.
I am sure the decision to put Kramer to sleep was a ver difficult one, and very sad.
Hi Deb,
I am glad you dropped by to leave a comment and that you have learned the joys of having a dog. I hope you have a long life together and enjoy many special memories, as I did with Kramer.
Take care,
Mark
Hi Mark
My sympathies. Old Yeller is coming back to me. … I’m having a moment of silence and reflection.
Alex
Hi Alex,
Thanks for your condolences and dropping by to leave a comment. All the best!

This post hit me hard. We lost our beloved chocolate lab, Payton, almost 3 years ago to a degenerative muscle disease. He was a rescue who had just come through hardcore heartworm treatment when we got him. At first, I thought he wasn’t very bright. But as we fed him up and gave him affection, his true personality shone through. For the four years he was part of our family, I am grateful. Everyone loved Pate. When he died, all of my teen daughter’s friends had tributes to him on MySpace. A small thing, but a testimony to the way people, especially teenagers, felt about him.
Only on the 4th of July this year did we get another dog to be a companion to our black lab (she’s been lonely without Pate, I think). Reggie is now 14 weeks old. A yellow lab. He thinks the world is his chew toy. But it’s wonderful to have that rambunctious spark back in our house. He’s not Payton, but we love him.
Kramer was a lucky dog. And you are a lucky human to have had him in your life. My condolences to you.
Hello Mary,
I am sorry this post hit you hard, but we both know how hard it is losing a great dog. Payton sounds like he was a great part of your family and was admired by a lot of people. I am sure you have a lot of special memories together.
It’s great to here that you have added Reggie to your family and I am sure you will have your hands full in many fun ways. I am sure I will do the same kind of thing when the time is right. Good luck to you!
Thank you,
Mark
Hi Mark
I’m sorry for your loss. I lost my Golden Retriever, Honey, a couple of years ago. I watched a tv program recently about the relationship between dogs and humans. It said wild dog species don’t bark much but domestic dogs have a variety of different barks. They played recordings of various types of dog barks to dog owners who were able to recognise that the dog was either excited, or angry, or anxious. It seems that domestic dogs have developed a barking “language” to communicate with humans. Dogs really are man’s best friend. People who have never had a dog may not understand.
I’ve posted a link to this page on identi.ca for you.
Hi Martyn,
Thank you for dropping by and leaving this message and I am also sorry to here about you losing your dog Honey. You are so right about dogs having there own language. They also have there own expressions and unique mannerisms, just like people. They are also a friend who never complains about the cooking, at least, not that I knew of. Thank you for posting this tribute to Kramer on identi.ca. Have a great day!
Mark
Mark, I know how you feel man. I had a golden retriever named Sunny that I had to put to sleep because she was getting too old and could not get up to eat anymore or do anything. So rather than see her suffer, we had her put to sleep.
We didn’t get her as a puppy. She was given to us by my wife’s father when she was about 8 years old. We had her 6 years.
She was such a faithful friend. Good with the kids, too. So I know how you feel.
Real sorry for your loss.
Steve
Hi Steve,
Thank you for your comments. I am also sorry to here about Sunny. It doesn’t take long to grow attached to a good dog. It sounds like Sunny had a great life and lots of love. Let’s keep the great memories!
Take care,
Mark
Sorry to hear about your dog Mark. I have to say I was a bit puzzled when I saw your title on the 100 Blog challenge list but hey why not. Writing your heartfelt post shows who you are. People can connect with you. Very important.
Sandy
Hi Sandy,
I actually wrote my tribute to Kramer before I even knew about the 100 Blog Challenge. The timing was perfect as Kramer meant the world to me and I wanted to share Kramer with the world. This post and challenge will only last a short time, but I have a good feeling in my heart and hope Kramer knows how special he was in my life. Thank you for your kind words!
Mark
Hi Mark
Thanks for sharing your deep feelings.
I have never had my own dog but have been around all sorts of animals for most of my life and can appreciate the strong bond between a dog and his owner. My deepest sympathies to you
Best wishes and all the best with the challenge
Eamon
Hi Eamon,
Kramer meant so much to me that it was easy to speak from my heart about him. He was so much fun to be around and I will always remember him. If you ever have a dog, I am sure you will love the experience. Thank you for your kind words and I also wish you all the best!
Mark
Hi Mark,
I am so sorry to hear about your loss. That was such a beautiful tribute to your buddy and best friend.
Pets become so much a part of who we are and continually teach us lessons…mostly about “unconditional love.”
I have no doubt that he is still by your side…watching over you with loving care. Sniff, sniff…
Good luck with the challenge…
Kathy
Hi Kathy,
It’s nice hearing from you! There is no doubt that our pets teach us the true meaning of unconditional love. I miss that boy, but I am sure he is still with me somehow.
I also wish you luck with the challenge and all of your endeavors!
Mark
Hi Mark:
I feel so sorry. I can imagine how heart breaking it is for you.
I am glad that you expressed yourself in this post, so the stress that this sorrow has created in you is not eating you up too deep. Did you think of getting another one. I was touched and felt it, though I did not have a dog for a long time. I am glad to see your future blog post title, yes you will be successful and I will like to read this next post also.
Talk again
Fran Aslam
Hello Fran,
I am glad you dropped by and have left your great comments. Writing this tribute to Kramer has been good for me and has helped me move on. I have said this before, but Kramer was very important in my life and his passing has been hard to deal with. The comments I have received on this blog post have been very helpful and shows me that there are a lot of caring and wonderful people in this world!
Thank you,
Mark
Hi Mark,
I am sorry to hear of your dog loss.
It seems that you were very connected with him and you will miss him as you would miss a friend of yours.
I’ve never owned a dog before but I have lots of friends that did and lose them and I know how they felt so I know how you feel too.
Remembering all the good times you had together will make you feel better.
Take care,
Andreas
PS. I wish you all the best with your internet business and your personal life.
Hello Andreas,
Thank you for your kind words. Kramer was a very good friend and it still seems like he should be by my side, as he always was. I will definitely cherish all the great memories we shared!
I also wish you and your family all the best!
Take care,
Mark
Hello Mark
Words are inadequate to express your loss, but this is the quote that I can think of “Dogs are miracles with paws.” ~Susan Kennedy
My sympathy is with you …
Cheers,

Hi Abizer,
Thank you for leaving a comment and I love the quote “Dogs are miracles with paws.” ~Susan Kennedy.

Mark,
I know your heart must be breaking. I know words do not do much to relieve the hole in our hearts when we lose something or someone of great love.
I have often marveled at the great love and acceptance animals have for us and for each other and wondered why folks cannot be more like them, animals. I think we will find at the end of our journey or perhaps at the beginning of the next just what is important in this life.
Gods Speed my friend, stay frosty.
Justin
Hello Justin,
It’s nice hearing from you and you are sure right about the hole in the heart you get when losing a special person or friend. I feel like Kramer was a person, even though he was a dog. A minor formality in my mind!
The unconditional love we receive from animals is priceless and I agree with you in that we all need to figure out what is truly important in this life. A simple life with a little love will sure go a long way! Thank you for your comments and I will stay “frosty”!
Take care,
Mark
Hi Mark,
It’s so very sad to say good-bye to your beloved pet. I’ve had to say good-bye to several over the years and it never gets any easier. It’s like a little piece of you is missing when they’re gone.
When I was growing up they were my confidants. I knew that I could tell them anything and everything and they would still be my dearest friends.
I still cherish all those sweet memories.
Maybe we will be reunited in the afterlife? I sure hope so. I miss my dear friends.
All the best to you.
Take care,
Sally
Hello Sally,
It sounds like we think the same way as I also hope that some day we can be reunited with our buddies in the afterlife. None of us really know, but it’s a pleasant thought!
I have also been with many of my parent’s pets and my own when they were put to sleep and it never has been easy. I have always wanted to be there so they know how much they mean to me and so I can comfort them in their final moments. It is always an emotional time.
All the best to you as well!
Mark
Hi Mark
Reading your post brings tears to my eyes. Very sorry to hear what happened to your dear Kramer but I hope you can get over your grief soon and move on with life. You are right that a dear dog can be our best companion and friend in life. I could put myself in your shoes as we lost our Minpin which we’ve been keeping for the past 10 years. She ran away and never came back.
Hang in there…
Rgds
Vivien
Hi Vivien,
It’s nice to hear from you. By the way, I love your blog! I am moving on with life and writing this blog post has helped me very much. It has been nice to share Kramer with the world and here from so many wonderful people. It’s refreshing to know that there are caring people all over the world!
I am sorry about your loss of Minpin. Let’s hope that someone gave her a good life wherever she went. It always helps to be optimistic!
Take care,
Mark
Hi Mark,
Kramer sounds like a true best freind and I am very sorry for your loss. I have a pet cockatiel that sits with me whilst I work from home at my online business and I know I would be so lonely without him to talk to and keep me company in my quite lonly ‘home office’.
That was a really nice tribute to your dog and best freind and I sincerley hope that time will help heal your loss.
Regards,
Steve Wilkins.
Hi Steve,
It’s been a while since we have been contact, but it’s nice hearing from you. Kramer was definitely one of the best friends I have ever had! He was very easy to get attached to and we shared a lot of great times together.
My mom used to have birds including a few cockatiels. They also have a personality of their own and do some funny things. I hope you are able to make a great living from your home and never have to go to another company office again, unless you want to! I am still working hard to accomplish that same goal!
All the best to you!
Mark
Hi Mark
It is great that you had someone in your life whom you cared for deeply and who obviously cared for you. With love in our hearts we are all the more richer.
Best wishes
Anne
Hi Anne,
I am very fortunate to have had 13.7 years to share with Kramer. Not all people have been able to experience this in their lives and I appreciate the gift of friendship I was given. I believe that Kramer and I had a better life because we were able to share it together!
Thank you,
Mark
Hi Mark, so sorry to hear you lost your dear Kramer, it is hard to refer to them as pets, it just doesn’t do justice to the fact they become close friends and an important part of the family. And when we lose them, which inevitably we must… it hurts us deeply because we really are losing a part of our family.
The pain will eventually subside but the memories wont, and it is through those memories that we pay tribute to those we have lost.
With best wishes
Pete Chapman
Hi Pete,
I agree with you totally on referring to our buddies as pets doesn’t do them justice. You truly do lose a member of your family. If the truth were told, losing Kramer was harder on me than losing some relatives I have lost in the past. I don’t mean any disrespect to my relatives for saying that, but that was reality.
Thank you for leaving your great comments, as they are right on the money!
Take care,
Mark
Mark,
Sorry to hear of your loss, but in times like this, just remember that you’re luck to have had such a friend in your life in the first place.
There are people out there who are not as lucky as us.
My grandad had a German Shepherd. We used to call him “Boy”.
When I was young, he was the biggest dog in the world (…used to be really scared of him at first…) but he really did look after me, so much so that he never used to let my dad come near me (…my mum used to laugh…)
Thanks for sharing such a personal post.
Reach new heights
Nathan
Hi Nathan,
I appreciate you dropping by to leave a comment. You are so right about me being lucky to have a friend like Kramer in my life. I truly understand how blessed I am!
I am sure you also have many very special memories of your granddad’s German Sheppard “Boy”. Dog’s are so funny how they bond with different people and it sounds like Boy had a fondness for you. My wife and children always asked me why Kramer only seemed to tolerate them, but was so loyal to me. I would always respond “I guess I am just lucky”, even though there was more to it than that.
I wish you all the best, including your Internet Marketing endeavors!
Mark
Hey Mark,
Thank you for sharing some of the love that Kramer shared with you. Animals are gifts that remind us on a daily basis of how much we are truly loved. Not for what we have, but for who we are. No matter what that may be. And even when they head back to heaven (and get the place ready for us, as I like to imagine) their unconditional love remains.
It’s been over 5 years since my beloved cat Mable passed. I think there will always be an ache when I think of her. But there is also such a sweetness and a gratitude for the years we spent together. I empathize with you, Mark. It gets easier as time passes. The sting fades and the loving memories shine so brightly.
*Sending you love to aid in the process*
Peace,
Lauren
Hi Lauren,
Thank you very much for leaving such a wonderful comment! I couldn’t have said it any better than you did. I also like to imagine that someday we will be reunited with our dear friends again. The precious memories were and will always be in my heart!
I am also sorry to here about Mable, but it sounds like we are both on the same page when it comes to the special moments we had with our friends. Our lives were more special for the times we were able to share with them.
I really appreciate you beautiful comments and love to aid the healing process. You made my day!
All the best to you!
Mark
Hi Mark,
Very sorry for your loss, your moving post is a fitting testimony to your true friend. I can fully appreciate how close you were to Kramer, having lost my black Labrador some years ago.
I’m sure that you will soon remember all the great times you shared together.
Regards,
Brian
Hello Brian,
It’s nice hearing from you and I appreciate your comments. It sounds like we both were blessed with some great friends to share our lives with. The memories are priceless and something I will always cherish!
All the best to you!
Mark
Hi Mark,
I was really sorry to read about your loss of your best friend.
I just wrote a sad tale about my own experiences in losing my first dog. Then I went to submit it and your Captcha thingy posted an error and i lost my post and I now feel too emotional to write what i wrote all over again, sorry.
All I’ll say is I know where you’re at as I’ve been there many times myself and now I’ve got a ‘nutty’ wilful Lab!
All the best
Richard
Hi Richard,
First of all, thank you for leaving a comment for the second time. I am sorry to hear about the Captcha error and I hope that is not a continuous problem for people trying to comment. The Captcha is supposed to prevent spam from robots, which I still get some times. I have had the same issues while trying to reply on other blog posts. You write a great comment and then something happens and it all disappears–very frustrating! Anyway, I really appreciate your effort and I can tell that you put a lot of emotion and effort into it.
I am sorry to here about you losing your first dog, but I am happy you now have a “nuty” willful lab. Enjoy all the great moments together and look for the positives in life. Take care and all the best to you as well!
Mark
Hey, you did him justice.
Having a pet die is the worst that can happen, I have 3 cats myself and if one of them died I would be crushed.
Just recently one ran away and was gone for 4 whole days, the longest he has ever been out. It was devastating, we were so afraid he wasn’t coming back.
Luckily he did, but I understand your pain and I am impressed with the way you honoured him.
Hy Daniel,
Thank you for leaving a comment and all your kind words. I have had cats over the years also and I have grown very attached to them as well. Enjoy your friends for as long as you have them.
Regards,
Mark
Hi Mark;
What a beautiful tribute to a dear lost friend!
So sorry to hear about your loss, and thank you for sharing such a personal post.
Hello Jess,
I appreciate you stopping by to leave your message. I am happy that I was able to send Kramer off with a tribute and that so many people have been so kind as to read it and leave beautiful comments.
Thank you,
Mark
Mark. Sorry to hear of your loss, always a difficult time. Try to remember all the good times and cherishes those memories as you had a good innings there. All the best, Tom
Hello Tom,
I am glad you dropped by and I will always remember the great times I have had with my friend Kramer. He was definitely my buddy and he will be missed!
Take care,
Mark
Mark,
So sorry to hear about your loss. I have experienced the feelings you are feeling. I also have been that “master” and loved like you described in your “Tribute to a Dog.”
I am currently that “master” to a Chihuahua who has seen her better days. She’s at my side constantly, even as I write this. I love her dearly and dread the day I have to let her go.
Must go as this is bringing me to tears. Thanks for the post, fellow dog lover.
Kat
Hello Kate,
It’s nice hearing from another dog lover and it certainly doesn’t matter how big the dogs is. This is definitely an emotional post and has brought out a lot of emotions in many people. It reminds us all to enjoy the moments we have (with people or our pets), as life is short! I hope you have many more years with your Chihuahua.
Mark
Hi Mark,
I can relate to every word, they truly cut me up and I really feel for you.
I have a British Bulldog called Sid who spends all day with me – one of the joys of internet marketing! The link is to his dedicated YouTube channel.
He’s my pal and I know one day I will have to say goodbye … but try to put that to the back of my mind.
All the best over the coming months, I appreciate it must be tough.
All the best
Kind Regards
Andy
Hi Andy,
I am sorry the words cut you up, but I know you can relate. Enjoy you buddy Sid and for a long time! Kramer used to be by my side whenever I worked in my home office and I am still not used to him being gone. He used to chase me out of the office once in awhile…you know what I’m talking about, but that was one way of leaving me laughable memories.
Take care,
Mark
Hi Mark,
It’s sad to hear your friend gone. I wish you the best in the upcoming days and ahead. He’s in a better place now and you can move on with life. You’ve written a beautiful tribute here. Almost humanely, if your friend could read it, he’ll have tears in his eyes. Thanks for sharing your story.
Thu
Hi Thu,
Thank you very much for your kind remarks. Kramer used to always know what I was going to do and would put himself in a position to be with me. I have no doubt that he knows I have written about him and how much he will always mean to me. He was truly a great dog and friend!
Take care,
Mark
Hi Mark
Sorry to hear of your loss.
I was never a big fan of having a pet until we recently found a cat in our garden. This cat was so frail it could hardly walk and it looked like it hadn’t eaten in a long while.
We fed it and let it sleep it the house overnight. I took it to the vets the next day. A few hours after dropping it off the vets called to advise that they had to put the cat to sleep as it was too ill to help.
It’s rare anything upsets me but this did!! Needless to say I took my wife and kids to the local RSPCA and we now have another cat who I’ve grown really attached to.
Stay healthy
Alex.
Hi Alex,
I am glad you dropped by. I am really sorry to here about what happened with the cat you found in your garden, but the end result sounds great. Now you know how satisfying it can be and you have another friend to share life with.
All the best to you!
Mark
Hi Mark,
Keep writing from your heart. You have a tremendous story to tell.
Your dog is a reflection of what you are. He has no idea how not to be like you. If you loved him, love yourself for it.Spread the words from your soul.
I am in the 100 comment challenge at http://theequest.com/?p=3018
Thanks for being who you are, a true friend.
Pierre
Hi Pierre,
Thank you very much for your kind words. If Kramer was a reflection of me, then I am very happy about that. He was a true friend!
I wish you much success in the challenge and your online ventures!
Mark
Hello Mark,
I’ve left a comment last week, and I am not sure if my comment has gone to spam mail accidently.
Cheers.
Connie
Hi Connie,
I am not sure what happened to your comment. I searched the spam folder and there isn’t any comments in there. Anyway, I really appreciate you visiting my blog and leaving a comment (comments). Have a great day!
Mark
Hi Mark, I’m sad to hear that you’ve lost your friend and companion. Our relationship with creatures is deeper than we may ever know or even admit. Take care, Steve D.
Hello Steve,
It is nice hearing from you. I was very fortunate to have had Kramer in my life for so long. I couldn’t have asked for a better gift.
Thank you,
Mark
Hi Mark,
I finally got here!
Have been a little busy with this little challenge of mine!
Oops on that one! I think a lot of people have been busy with this one!
Re your furry baby. I have 4 of them! 2 canines and 2 felines. I often joke about being a mumma of 6! 2 dogs, 2 cats, i kid and a husband!
However on a serious note. I am sorry to hear of your loss. Our pets are our furry children. They are like our kids as well as our friends. The cuddle us when we are miserable and make us laugh when we are happy. They are giving and nurturing and apart from loving us because we feed and house them they do love us unconditionally.
I remember when I had to put a cat of mine down many years ago. She was 19 at the time and had gone blind and was completely senile. Some days she remembered me and others she didn’t.
When I had to say goodbye, that particular day she held onto me the whole day. It was as if she knew. She smooched me and cuddled me and when I had to say goodbye I cried. However when I held her in my arms after she was asleep a sense of peace came over me knowing I had done the right thing by her.
Even to this day 16 years later I can still feel her presence.
Looks like the challenge is going well. I am taking a table as I go around. Hopefully everyone will get to finishing their commenting soon! I didn’t realise what a work load this challenge was going to be!
See you back here soon!
Cheers
Jacinta
Hi Jacinta,
I am glad you were able to drop by and leave such a nice message. You are a glutton for punishment by taking on the challenge plus keeping track of what everyone else is doing. I really commend you, Mandy and whoever else is helping out!
We have the same joke around our house with kids, cats, my wife, and 2 dogs we have lost over the last few years. My wife flips the joke back to me as well. I totally agree about the unconditional love of our furry kids. Life wouldn’t be the same without them!
Thank you for sharing your story about your kitty of 19 years. That is a very long life! I had the same kind of feelings on the day we had to put Kramer to sleep. It’s so sad, but you know it is the right thing to do.
I had better get going, as I still am a long way from finishing the challenge. What have we done to ourselves?
Take care,
Mark
Mark:
I am sorry to hear about the loss of your German Shepard. Kramer was a pretty dog. What a wonderful thought to write a tribute to your best friend.
Losing someone we love, whether it be an animal, a friend, or a family member, will be one of the hardest things we will ever experience.
This is my first time visiting your blog and I had a look around and I like what you are doing here and I like your writing style.
I hope you get back to is soon.
Good luck to you!
- Rick
Hi Rick,
Thank you for stopping by and I appreciate your words. I have lost a lot of family, friends, and pets over the years, but Kramer has been harder to lose than most. I guess it is because he was so special!
I appreciate you compliments and I am always open to constructive criticism or advice. I am going back to it now and hope to do something that will make a difference.
Thank you,
Mark
Hi Mark,
Sorry to hear about your buddy Kramer I also lost my buddy Blackie some years ago it was very hard to see him go but he lived a good life he also had seizers whenever he would go into one we would have to hold him to keep him from flopping around and hurting himself more he lived to be 15 years old and loved to go for a ride he is truly missed. 1989-2004.
Kind Regards
Mike Fleming
Hello Mike,
Thank you for dropping by to leave a comment. I am glad to here you had 15 years with Blackie, even though it was not enough. At least we have some great memories with us still.
Take care,
Mark
I can relate to your story 100% Mark. My German Sheperd (Major) was also 13 when I had him put to sleep because of arthritis of his rear legs. It broke my heart to do it but it would have been selfish to let him live and suffer like that any longer. Time does heal and the memories never fade. I would rather miss him like I do than not to have had him at all. He brought the family so much joy which I wouldn’t have missed for the world.
Deepest condolencies mate, They may only be animals but they can be as good (if not better) than friends at times.
Keith
Hi Keith,
I appreciate your comments and I could not have said my feelings for Kramer any better than you did for Major. It was a true honor to have them in our lives and they are deeply missed.
Thank you for your kind words!
Mark
Hi Mark,
I’m sorry to hear of your loss. I know that must be very painful. I can definitely relate. I know that your dog is just like your child. There was a time that I did not understand that until I became a dog owner. Like you, I had the same experience about 3 years ago. If it makes you feel any better, It will get a little better as the time goes by. Although I know you will never forget him. Continue to think of the good times you had. I definitely still think of my old friend.
Much Success,

Hello Lorina,
It’s nice to hear from you and I thank you for the kind thoughts. We both have been fortunate to have had such dear friends in our lives and I know that time heals all wounds.
All the best to you!

Hi Mark,
I’m so sorry for your loss,
I too am blessed to share my life with a wonderfull Black and tan German shepherd named Gemma, she’s only 6 so hopefully we have many more fun filled years to come.
Your poem sums up a dogs love and loyalty perfectly there is nothing like it, they give so much pleasure while asking for so little.
Remember the good times, you’ll never forget Kramer but I hope when the pain of your loss is less intense you allow yourself the opportunity to share your life and love with another.
My thoughts are with you
Michelle
Hi Michelle,
Thank you for dropping by and It’s great to here about Gemma. I am sure you will have many years of fun together. I do plan on getting another German Shepherd (probably 2) someday in the near future.
Regards,
Mark
Hey Mark
I’m sorry for your loss, I know quite well the felling. I had my dog for almost 16 years. Although it was just a regular dog, no special breed, it was a lovely companion and a true friend.
This happened almost 20 years ago. Since then, I never replaced him by another.
Cheers
Jorge
Hello Jorge,
It’s nice to here from you! I would have to say though, that I think your dog was a special breed and far above regular! Any dog or pet can be “the best friend ever” and it doesn’t matter what breed they are! I am glad you share the miracle of a great dog in your life. I hope you decide to give another lucky dog, or whatever you choose, a chance to share a special life with you. That is what I will be doing in the near future.
Take care,
Mark
Hi Mark
I’m so sorry to hear about your loss. Its so sad when you have to put a dog down but at least he’s not suffering anymore and he’s in the right place.
Brilliant poem and so true
Regards
Dawn Kay
Hi Dawn,
Thank you for dropping by to leave a comment. Yes, you are right that at least he’s not suffering any more. Good luck in the challenge!
Mark
Hi Mark -
I am so sorry for your loss. May 2008, my wonderful dog Charlie finally became too ill and he let me know it was time and I made the heartbreaking decision to have him put to sleep. He knew. I felt a sense of calm afterwards. He was a rescue dog from Battersea and we got him when he was 5 years old. We had him for 7 short years. He had a heart condition and we knew he wouldn’t be long lived but he had personality by the truckload. I remember him in so many ways. I miss him still, but I do not miss the hours he kept me waiting in the woods whilst he chased rabbits!
Remember the good times. True friends leave paw prints in our hearts.
Hello Susan,
Thank you for telling me about Charlie. He sounds like a very special dog! They sure do have a way of leaving paw prints on our hearts and in our mind.
Regards,
Mark
Hi Mark,
Your first sentence after ‘here is a tribute to a dog’ is certainly a very true statement. I am not a dog owner myself but have always been of the opinion that German Shepherds are the most beautiful of all dog breeds.
I have had a good look at your blog, you are doing well – 13 websites already! How long have you been involved in this IM business?
Regards,
Bill
Hi Bill,
I’m glad you dropped by and left a comment. I like a lot of different dog breeds, but I am very fond of German Shepherds. They are definitely a great breed and are very loyal. Kramer was actually a gift to me from my identical twin brother who passed away in 1998 from cancer. He wanted me to have a gift that would outlast himself and Kramer certainly did that. I think that is one of the best gifts I have ever received in my life!
I have been dabbling in IM for about 2.5 years, even though I had purchased some domain names before that, but did nothing with them. I was initially stagnant because I didn’t have a clue about C-panel setup and all the initial things you had to get going to get in this business. Several years ago, there wasn’t nearly as many courses or training material available on newbie topics, as there is now. I am still a work in progress and some of the websites I currently have need some work. I just don’t have enough time, as is the case with most people.
Take care,
Mark
Hello Mark,
Sorry to hear about your dog, I’m a dog lover myself though my job has meant it’s been a while since I last had one. Had to go through similar times myself and never nice. Your tribute summed things up well, a pet dog is truly the most loyal faithful friend.
Best wishes
Dave
Hi Dave,
It’s good to here from you and I thank you for leaving a comment. I hope your job or on-line business ventures will bring you success and allow you to have another dog or as many as you want in your life. There are always more dogs than homes available and that is sad. Unfortunately, its the same with all pets.
All the best to you as well!
Mark
Your blog is very touching. thanks for sharing! Keep up the good work.
Hello Amy,
You are certainly welcome and I thank you for dropping by and leaving a comment!
Mark
Hi mark
Awwww your post made me sad and reminded me of how much I miss my little jack russell named Bandit, he was my best friend too.
I would love another dog, but would feel like I was betraying my old dog in some way.
It’s unusual to see a blog post like yours but I loved it, very different and very real.
Sally
Hi Sally,
I am glad you were able to stop by and leave your thoughts. I am sorry that this post made you sad, but I am sure you have a lot of great memories of Bandit. I even think that he would be OK with you getting another dog, when the time is right.
I knew that this post is different and I didn’t care if other people thought it was weird or didn’t like it. I simply wanted to do a tribute for Kramer because he meant so much to me. The timing with the 100 blog challenge was by coincidence. Thank you for your kind words and I wish you all the best!
Mark
Hi Mark
I am so sorry about your loss. I know how you feel I have had three German Shepherds, two have sadly passed away and the third Zeke is now nearly 10 and has had many health problems. It breaks your heart to lose a pet they are so faithful and have unconditional love.
I also have 5 cats so as you can probably tell I am a great animal lover.
Things will get easier but at the moment it’s still very new. Just remember all the good, fun times you had with Kramer.
Take Care
Barbara
Hello Barbara,
I am definitely holding on to all the great memories and things are better. It sounds like you have your hands full with Zeke and your cats and I am sorry to here about your German Shepherds. Well, at least you have a lot of company and I am sure they all bring their special qualities to your life. Thank you for dropping by to leave your wonderful comments!
Mark
Hi Mark,
That was a moving tribute to your friend. We should strive to have somebody say the same about us when we go…
The update was an upbeat, on the other hand. Nice pick!
Jose
Hello Jose,
It is nice hearing from you and you are so right about having someone leave us a tribute when our time comes. Thank you for dropping by and I hope you have a wonderful day!
Mark
What a wonderful way to remember your little buddy by sharing this tribute with us. You can never imagine how special and important a pet is in your life!
Good luck and we will all remember Kramer with you!

Hi Gwen,
It is sure nice having you as part of the tribute to Kramer. Even though most of the people who have commented on this post have never met Kramer, we all understand what a special gift a pet can be.
Thank you,
Mark
We have two dogs, both of whom are very loyal and fun to have around. They treat us like we are part of their family
and give the most awesome greetings when we return home. I do not want to think about the day they eventually leave this earth
Thanks for sharing your story. Michael.
Hi Michael,
I am glad you have two dogs in your life and all the shared friendship that comes with it. May your days together be many! Thank you for stopping by and leaving a comment.
Mark
Hi Mark
I undersand you greif, I lost my gundog Bertie 4 years ago, and I still get a twang when I look at his picture.
My partner has only just persuaded me to get a weimarner puppy called Bismark, it’s like having an enthusiastic 5 year old child arround
It is worth remembering how much these beautiful, loyal and unselfish creatures give us
All the best
Vince
Hi Vince,
I am sorry to here about Bertie, but happy to here you now have Bismark in your life. I certainly can relate to what you are saying about it is like having an enthusiastic 5 year old child around…a lot of fun! Puppies are so much joy, even when they occasionally do something they shouldn’t.
I can remember when Kramer shredded my hot tub cover when I was trying to sell my house. It was hard to be mad at him and how quickly it turned into a laugh. It goes to show you that memories are worth more than material items!
Thank you,
Mark
Hi Mark,
Thank you for sharing that and I’m sorry to hear about your loss of Kramer.
There’s a little guy sat here, a miniature Jack Russell called Monty who I’m sure would follow me to the ends of the earth. We met when he was 8 weeks old and I know exactly what you mean and what you’re feeling.
Great post and tribute to a loved friend

Hi John,
It is so good to here about your special friend Monty and your friendship. With all of the complexities of life these days, it’s nice to share time with a friend who is all there for you. All they want in return is some love, food, shelter and as much of your time as you can spend with them. It’s a pretty good bargain!
All the best to you!
Mark
I’m sorry to hear about this loss. I LOVE, LOVE, LOVE German Shepherds. If I didn’t live in a small condo, I would have at least one. My father-in-law has had 4 German Shepherds in his lifetime, and he’s named them all Misty LOL. I have had the pleasure of being a part of two of their lives. One had hip issues and couldn’t walk any more at the end of her life, and the other one had to be given to a good home due to moving. I cried for both.
They are fantastic dogs, and your story brought tears to my eyes reading it.
Thanks, and I truly believe they continue to watch over you when their life has ended.
Thanks,
Patrick
Hello Patrick,
Yes, German Shepherds are great dogs! I had to laugh about your father-in-law naming all of his dogs Misty. My father did the same thing with his Chesapeake Bay Retriever named Jessie. I guess they were so fond of the first dog, they wanted to keep a good thing going.
I appreciate your kind thoughts and sharing your memories of your German Shepherds. I hope you get the chance to have your own buddy sometime in the near future.
Take care,
Mark
Hi Mark
I’m sorry to read of your sad loss, Kramer was a handsome fellow. Having had dogs all my life until our last one passed away a couple of years ago, I know what it’s like. But he had a long and happy life,
The picture of the ‘brave cat’ brought a smile to my face after reading your sad post, especially the wishful expressions on the dogs’ faces
And the caption is brilliant!
No dog will ever be able to replace Kramer but maybe one day you will find another dog to fill the empty space and it will be lucky to find such a caring owner.
Warm Regards
Lynn
Hi Lynn,
I am very thankful to you for your heartfelt comments. Kramer was a very handsome dog and his personality matched! I think you are right about no dog ever being able to replace him, but I plan on looking for another someday soon.
I am glad you liked the “brave cat” picture. It seemed to be a perfect ending to this tribute to Kramer and one I am sure he would approve of, as he overcame the urge to chase cats and became a friend to many.
Thank you,
Mark
Hi Mark,
Dog is indeed a great friend and I remember more than one dog that payed a significant part in my life.
It’s sad that dogs have a much shorter life span then we do.
The picture of the dogs letting the cat go peacefully by is great.
Vance
Hi Vance,
We were both lucky to have had dogs in our lives. I agree with you about the unfairness of dogs having a shorter life span than us. It would be nice if had and equal amount of time. I’m glad you liked the “brave cat” picture and I did to.
Take care,
Mark
Hi Mark,
My deepest sympathies about Kramer. Do remember the great times you had together and as you said, he is still around and giving you things to smile about in remembrance. As for that picture? It’s priceless. Stopped by on my 11th hour visit for the 100 comment challenge.
Best,
Elizabeth
Hello Elizabeth,
I am glad you were able to make it before the end of the challenge. I thank you for your kind words and I’m glad you liked the picture. I will be over to visit your blog in a few moments and I can always use lessons on adding balance to my life.
Thank you,
Mark
Mark, sorry to hear about Kramer! Like the people in our lives, our pets are special to us, sometimes even more than we know.
It has given me pause to reflect on the pets I’ve lost over the years, most recently my tricolor collie Maxx. We got Maxx in 96 from a shelter in Alabama. He was so scared at first, he would refuse to leave the tile floor in our kitchen. Eventually, when he knew he could trust us not to abandon him, I was so amazed at what a faithful and caring creature he would become over the next 13 years with us.
He was the only dog I ever owned I could trust off leash, he would “Go Home” when told, he would let our cats and Siberian husky pups sleep with him in the hall and put up with all their shenanigans. Maxx would even help round up the horses when they occasionally broke out of the pasture. We thought Maxx would be with us forever, but he passed on one night in his sleep last winter without warning or whimper.
To this day. even with all the other animals in my family’s life, Maxx brings back special memories for me as I am sure thinking of Kramer does for you.
John
Hi John,
I really appreciate your comments and I am glad this post has given you a pause to reflect on pets you have had over the years, especially Maxx. I think we all should take time to reflect once in awhile.
Maxx sounds like he was such a special friend to you. I can tell that he meant as much to you as Kramer did for me and I am sorry for your loss. It’s sad to here that he left you without saying goodbye, but he is still around somehow. Thank you for sharing him with me!
I wish you all the best!
Mark
Hi, Mark,
I’m sorry to read of your loss. Yes, it’s losing a long-term friend who never picked up your faults – just loves you the way you are!
I’ve got 3 Huskies and I would be lost without them. Needless to say, the cat wouldn’t stand a chance with mine – I just cannot get them that well trained!
Keep writing
Jennifer
Hi Jennifer,
Thank you for your comment and it’s nice to here from another dog lover. Kramer actually did pick up a few of my faults, but it depends on how you look at it, I guess. He sure left me with some great memories and some funny stories to tell.
It’s hard to get dogs to get a long with cats when there is more than one dog. We used to have 2 German Shepherds and we had to work with them for awhile before they knew they weren’t supposed to chase the cats. After awhile, they actually became good friends. It’s funny how that works.
Thank you,
Mark
Hi, Mark,
Pets ARE family. I’m so sorry about Kramer. It’s never easy to good bye to a loved one. I have 3 cats, one fish, two tropical frogs and a snail. I love them all. I think our loved ones (including pets) will be waiting to see us in heaven!
Thanks for sharing,
Fran T
Hey Mark,
My concoleces, to you on your loss, you rea exactly where I was at nearly one year ago , I lost my best buddy Oscar, he was 16 and just went down hill over a space of 3 weeks!
He was a gift at 6 weeks old for a former girlfriend who quite literary left him behind with me, when she left, however thats what gave me the bond with him it did, he was a yorkshire terrier, and such a character too, I miss him bad but I have his ashes in a very small mahogany box casket, so he is still with me!
Great tribute to Kramer, you did him proud, take care Mark….Ed.
Hi Mark,
Really interesting post. It good to read a post that teaches and impart moral lesson as well. I believe this is the kind of attitude that every aware must put into consideration. Thanks for bringing this topic about this lovely dog into discussion. Really touching and inspiring post.
I pray for a grief healing of yours. It’s good to express it in your blog. I salute your braveness.
Hi Mark
I’m truly sorry for your loss.
No words can ever describe the empty space they leave. I loved my scraggy mutt Pepper, from the day we got him from a rescue centre as a trembling pup, till the day I had to say goodbye to my very old friend, and stroke him as he went away.
I’m in tears as I write this, and that was over 10 years ago.
I could get another dog, but I cannot get another Pepper.
Maybe he’s waiting for me? I simply don’t know.
As long as you loved Kramer as much as I’m sure he loved you, just remember the great times, the fun times, the quiet times.
You have a right to grieve, and you have the right to remember him forever.
They say “It’s better to have loved etc.” It applies here too.
Good luck and best wishes Mark.
If you visit me, look for ‘Chaos’, it may make you smile. You know that you do have the right to smile. Kramer would want it.
Regards
Alan
Thanks for the post about success, what I would say that mainly we lack determination and self-respect as well.
